Other Ceremonies

The path we travel from cradle to grave has many milestones that mark the journey.  We often recognize birth, marriage and death with ceremony.  But there are other milestones as well:  crossing the threshold into a new stage of life, beginning a new adventure such as a home or business, or ending an important relationship or partnership.

When we recognize these transitions with rituals that reflect what they mean to us and those in our lives, we honour the very journey of life and its sacred beauty.

I can help you celebrate them.  I work with people to custom-design a ceremony that expresses your deeply personal desires and vision, and gives you the opportunity to really honour the transitions as they occur in your life.

Here are some occasions for which you may wish to have a meaningful ritual:

  • Honouring a teenaged girl by her female relatives as she enters a circle of women
  • Acknowledging a “woman of a certain age” for all of her accomplishments and all she has left to give as she becomes a respected elder
  • Welcoming a new child into a circle of loving family and friends
  • Embracing and affirming the new identity of a transgender individual
  • Blessing a new home and creating the intention for it to be all that you want it to be
  • Blessing a new business or partnership, setting the tone for its operation
  • Saying goodbye to a beloved home or place as you move on to your next adventure
  • Releasing the emotion and emerging from the grieving phase that comes after a divorce
  • Releasing an old identity to embrace a new one, perhaps with a career change or as an empty-nester

Would a ceremony serve you as you make a transition?

You’ll know.

And if it feels right, please reach out to me.  I would love to create something with you and for you.

“Any transition serious enough to alter your definition of self will require not just small adjustments in your way of living and thinking but a full-on metamorphosis.”

What I appreciate most was Margaret’s ability to listen and understand what I was looking for, and provide exactly the balance of serious and lightheartedness that I wanted.   When Margaret leads, she makes those in the room feel taken care of, and included.   Her training as an interfaith minister allows her to bring respect and dignity to a service or ceremony, and her warm personality and sense of humour allow her audience to relax and participate fully in which ever experience she is hosting.  I highly recommend Margaret if you are looking for someone to lead a service, or host a program.
